Crazy Check Placemat Pattern Download is Now Available!

As I shared on Monday, I absolutely love adding new things to my home to make it feel more welcoming. These Crazy Check Placemats will be sure to brighten up my dining room table!placematpattern2

This pattern is easy and fun! If you’ve mastered the knit and purl stitches, then this would be a great next step! There are only a few new and simple stitches to learn – yarn over (yo), slip stitch (slst), pass slipped stitch over (psso), and knit two together (k2tog). And in the end you’ll have a funky new placemat to adorn your table!

I made my placemats with a “Seaspray” cotton yarn from Bernat. I chose cotton because the placemats will get a lot of use and will need to be washed. Cotton seemed to be the most friendly yarn option for this project.

I love the wonky checkerboard look of the pattern I chose! It’s fun to look at while still lying flat enough to be functional – most glasses will remain stable when set on the mat.

*Note: I did not block my placemat before taking these pictures. Oops! I didn’t have time to block them before taking pictures at a local coffee shop, but I would recommend that you block yours before use. (Unless you kind of like the wavy edge that the cast on created.)

Courtney is a member of the GE Creative Team and is the monkey in the middle of this trio of sisters. Her degree might be in English and Spanish Education, but she’s following God’s call on her life and pursuing full time ministry with The Navigators. If she’s not crafting, reading, or hanging with her hubby, you’ll probably find her at a local coffee shop sipping her caramel latte and opening up the Bible with college women.
