Easy Peasy Knit Cowl

Easy Peasy Cowl

This was a fun project.  I used large needles, large yarn, and an easy stitch.  I call this cowl Easy Peasy.  And as most of you know I love to use variegated yarn and I love the layers of color I got out of this skein.  The autumn colors really standout on this brown sweater.  Yes, I know this is not fall but I really wanted to wear this before our Nebraska winter transitions into spring. I have had this done for a couple of weeks.  I hear we may get our last snow fall at the end of the week.  It is not unusual though to get snow in April.

Easy Peasy Cowl

Yarn: Chunky – 180-275yds

Needles: US 10

Pattern: Double Seed Stitch (Multiple of 4 sts +2)
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2,rep from * across.
Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.
Row 3: Rep Row 2.
Row 4: Rep Row 1.
Rep these 4 rows for Double Seed Stitch

Cast-on 42 stitches (or number preferred for cowl width keeping the rule “multiple of 4 stitches +2”  in mind) using invisible (provisional) cast-on.  This gives you live stitches to finish project as a continual fabric.

Knit using Double Seed Stitch pattern until desired length is reached ending with row 1 if twisting your fabric or row 3 if leaving it flat.  Attach live cast-on stitches to ending stitches using the Kitchener stitch.  I like to put a twist in my scarf because I tend to make short cowls but if you make a long cowl you may want to leave it flat and add the twist when you double it around your neck.

Are you trying to finish a winter project?  What is it?

Happy Knitting,
